Q: Why did you decide to become a part of the Mock Con Executive Committee?
A: The more immersed I became in the interview process my freshman year, the more I knew it was the place for me. Mock Convention is primarily an event that is about and for people—entertaining them, dazzling them, educating them, and inspiring them. Being on the Executive Committee meant working on the frontlines to ensure that Mock Convention at once stayed true to its reputation and surpassed its long historical fodder, which is a task that any true General would be raring to take on.
Q: What are you looking forward to most about the Convention?
A: I absolutely cannot wait to see all of our hard work and great ideas culminate into this monumental event, but the absolute pinnacle will be watching fellow students, faculty members, professors, parents, local residents, national figureheads, and members of the media be entirely consumed by the spirit and fun (yes, it can be fun!) of national politics and captivated by what has rightly been described as a spectacle.
Q: What is your favorite thing so far about the Mock Con experience?
A: Much of what excites me the most about Mock Convention takes place on a daily basis: students working hard and collaborating with each other to come up with ideas and events never before conceptualized by any prior committee, and yet, there always remains that reverence for and adherence to tradition. With that said, the students are the crux of this event, and I have to say the best part is sitting back if even for a moment and watching my peers at work—they’re remarkable.

Q: Why did you decide to become a part of the Mock Con Executive Committee?
A: Mock Convention, once I learned of it on my initial visit to Washington and Lee, became a driving factor in my desire to attend Washington and Lee. With a natural passion for politics and a personal history of participating and leading student organizations Mock Convention not only seemed like a no-brainer but almost too good to be true. Once I heard about the first information session I pounced on the opportunity and was lucky enough to have been chosen.
Q: What are you looking forward to most about the Convention?
A: I'm most looking forward to a couple of weeks after the Convention itself. This may sound strange as it makes it sound like I cannot wait for the Convention to be over. This is not the case however, the reason I most look forward to a couple weeks after the Convention is because that will be when I can finally take a step back and actually fully appreciate the magnitude of this once in a lifetime event.
Q: What is your favorite thing so far about the Mock Con experience?
A: My favorite thing so far about Mock Convention has been the multiple interview processes. Through interviewing for the Steering Committee we have met some truly intelligent and talented individuals whether they ended up being selected or not. Other than making me wonder how in the world I was selected this process truly showcased the level of student that attends W&L and drives home and could convince anyone in the world of the validity of a student run organization of this magnitude.

Q: Why did you decide to become a part of the Mock Con Executive Committee?
A: Like many of those who have gotten involved with the Mock Convention, I was immediately attracted to its history and the opportunities that I knew it would offer. Politics is my major for a reason-I absolutely love it, and the Mock Convention brings together so many students who not only share that interest, but are excited about creating an incredible event that engages the whole campus community.
Q: What are you looking forward to most about the Convention?
A: What excites me most about the Mock Convention is the opportunity to see the research stacking up and to hear lots of amazing speakers. Most of all, however, I am really excited to watch the Convention itself unfold
Q: What is your favorite thing so far about the Mock Con experience?
A: So far, the thing I have enjoyed most about the Mock Convention is the opportunity to meet and work with so many awesome people-the Executive and Steering Committees, as well as University staff and potential speakers. But I also love Mock Con parties, dinner meetings, and late night beignets at Café du Monde while searching for speakers in New Orleans.

Q: Why did you decide to become a part of the Mock Con Executive Committee?
A: Mock Convention 2012 offers a unique opportunity to be part of an organization steeped in tradition. As an accounting major, I particularly enjoy being a part of the fund-raising process and working to fund the Convention.
Q: What are you looking forward to most about the Convention?
A: The satisfaction that comes with having furthered a one hundred and eight year old tradition, in grand style.
Q: What is your favorite thing so far about the Mock Con experience?
A: Watching the Steering Committee evolve has been truly rewarding. The Steering Committee is comprised of a group of well-rounded individuals with varied interests and talents and I am thrilled to be part of such a cohesive team.
